2015: new italian acquisition

Pusterla 1880 Spa (Pusterla) is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of a minority stake in Scatolificio Cristina Srl (Cristina).

The agreement enables the gradual exit of the founder Giorgio Galimberti from the shareholder structure and the simultaneous transition to majority of Pusterla , with Maurizio Galimberti taking the position of CEO. Maurizio will hold a minority stake in the company.

With this operation Pusterla supports the generational change of a strategic partner by strengthening its future development and expanding the Group’s range of products through the integration of the European leader in the production of transparent packaging.

Cristina was founded 45 years ago near Milan and is currently one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of packaging in transparent APET , PET , PET- R and PP; its products today are oriented to the food market (thanks to the BRC – LOP for direct contact certification) , to cosmetics , perfumes , pharmaceuticals and the spirits market and are exported to more than 70 % .

Cristina is the only player with full integration in all production and printing stages, which allows for direct management of quality, cost and timing even with the most complex products; moreover, over the years, thanks to partnerships with major customers in the food and para-pharmaceutical market, has developed a unique know-how in the development of products for automatic packing lines.

The combined expertise of the Group will offer customers fully integrated solutions with flexibility , quality and innovation .

Ethical Packaging Paper

The “Ethical Packaging Paper” is a document that collects shared principles for designing, producing andconsuming packaging in a conscious manner, involving designers, manufacturers, processors and anyone who has chosen to join this project.

It links the plan of rights, the plan of the principles, the plan of values ​​to establish an ideal contract between the actors of the system, so that they commit themselves to sharing principles to which they tend, without overlapping the norms, and making this choice public.

We, as a packaging manufacturer, have the moral and ethical duty to help spread this “system culture” that helps produce, use, and consume packaging, going beyond norms and obligations, with a focus on rights and the expectations of this essential and often contradictory object of packaging.

Packaging is balanced when it has been devised and designed in the right relation to its contents and it is the result of what is needed for its correct dissemination.


In that it is healthy, safe packaging that protects individuals and communities throughout its lifecycle.

Safe packaging fully accounts for its traceability, throughout the supply chain; it is safe in terms of the protection of its contents and the non contamination of the same, safe during transport, the same as during its use and through its entire lifecycle.


Where packaging is capable of “easily” explaining itself to the user.

Packaging is accessible when it is simple and easy to use, and thus considers the right of any consumer to be able to approach, understand and use a product.


Or that is where packaging builds an immediate relationship with its recipient.

Packaging is transparent when it is sincere, when it tells the truth in full respect of legal standards and it does so plainly. Via the quality of transparency it manages to build up a relationship of trust with the recipient.


Where packaging guarantees the best information, both useful and necessary.

Informative packaging respects legal standards, bears all information useful to know about the contents and its packaging, their use and disposal.

Where packaging is constantly in tune with the society of which it represents the values.

Packaging reflects the culture of our society and in turn contributes to creating the same. It does so via messages, that are transmitted via its shape, its graphics, its symbols: it thus transfers values and messages and takes part in the evolution of contemporary social life.


In which packaging has good relations with its own future.

Packaging is capable of intervening today in terms of possible future effects. The choices that determine the packaging of today cannot develop starting from an immediate advantage but must consider the consequences that derive from the initial choices.


In that packaging, as a common object, is capable of assuming an educative function.

Packaging is a tool that is fully part of everyone’s daily lives, in constant dialogue with its recipient. Hence it has a great educative potential: its dissemination also makes it a powerful tool in these terms.

2014: Pusterla 1880 reaches England

A combination of experiences in luxury paper-making, skill and history: in October, 2013, Pusterla and The London Fancy Box Co Ltd (Dover, UK) tied a strategic allegiance from which one of the largest paper-making groups in Europe will be born, focused on premium paperboard packs.
The agreement implies that in 2014 LFB will fall under the total control of Pusterla 1880, and that Christopher and Matthew Lawson – members of the family that has been leading the glorious English company for 115 years and current majority shareholders – will work alongside the Meana family with minority shares in Pusterla 1880.

In the course of the year 2010 we started facing the issue of decreasing our dependency on the supply of electric energy from external sources, albeit renewable, thanks to an independent energy production that could exploit the southern exposure of the buildings in which we operate.
For this reason, we chose to install a system that uses the sun as a renewable source of energy.

The ideal surface for placing the solar panels was identified in a part of the roofing did not host skylights and cooling and/or air extraction systems.
Initially, the parabolic shape of the roofing tiles was an obstacle, since it does not allow the panels to be uniformly hit by the rays of the sun.
After in-depth research we found the solution to our problem in CIS technology panels, the Powermax SGS modules produced by Saint Gobain.
This technology exploits a wider light spectrum and is highly performing on East-West exposures, which is the lateral inclination of the slopes of our roofs.
In order not to weigh down the building with a strong overload, due to the fact that the wind’s action on the panels needed to be contrasted, we chose to place the panels parallel to the roofing surface and to fix them with a system based on the VELCRO principle that guarantees high resistance, easy fixing and weight reduced to only a few hg. per square meter.

Moreover, this type of placement does not interfere in the least with the architectural design of the buildings, since it is not visible from outside.

The theoretical power generated by the panels is equal to 159 Kw, which on an annual basis corresponds to 12% of our yearly consumption.
The system started working in February 2012, and up to today we can confirm the validity of the project both in terms of energy savings, especially in the summer months when cooling is required, and in terms of the satisfaction it gives us to produce energy without emitting polluting substances.
